What is YIOM

April first signals the beginning of Yogis Inspiring Oneness Month. This is a very exciting project I am participating in and I cannot believe it is finally here!

So what IS YIOM? Well, the fabulous Lo at the Vegan Asana was inspired to rally up some yogis to write at least three to four times a week about yoga related topics (to read her post regarding YIOM click here). The mentality behind oneness is simple – as students of yoga and of life, you begin to realize more and more that we are all interconnected. Your actions, regardless of size, affect people adversely and inadversely. By simply expressing compassion and love in your bubble of a world – you can move mountains. In times of tragedy in other parts of the world, the only thing you can really do is breathe and live your life as consciously as possible. Everything that resides on this planet affects each other. We live in a fragile ecosystem and essentially, we are all one. We all breathe, live, love, as one.  By blogging together, we are reinforcing this idea that change happens one breath at a time.

Originally, I wanted to blog every day in April for this fabulous movement but I have decided against it. My posts come from my heart and are always based on inspiration. I have never forced myself to write a post and I do not want to start now. Forcing currents always leads to resentment and bitterness and the last thing I want is to feel any negative energy towards my blog or YIOM. I have to stay true to me.

Here is the full list of all the participants. Feel free to peruse their wonderful blogs and it is never too late to participate so if you are reading this and are interested just shoot me or Lo an email!

  6. Great idea linking to the other blogs! I'm like you, I write from the heart. In fact I've been almost regretting signing up for YIOM because I didn't want to "have" to write every day. Thanks for saying it's ok to continue to write as we feel inspired.

  10. Yay for YIOM! Welcome to the circle (or, I welcome myself). I feel the same way about posting daily -- I'd like to do it, but I know my blog would be filled with random ramblings. Can't wait to join your journey.

  11. I'm so glad to have you all with me in YIOM! Blogging daily should not be a requirement. I would rather read three blogs in a week that really resonate with you than seven that don't.
And, I think it's so cute that you call me Lo! I don't think anyone else has ever done that :D
